In an effort to contribute toward the development of our members' business acumen, we have created the Mind Your Own Business event series.
We now present the second event in the series, The Client.
Mind Your Own Business: The Client might be considered a crash course in Account Service. Three seasoned professionals will answer questions from the audience about every issue that affects the relationship between designer and client, including when 'the client' is defined as your boss. This event is designed to help all designers find and keep good clients, and improve relationships with their existing ones.
Some questions may come from In-house Designers like: "Is my direct supervisor, his boss or my company my real client?" Or a Studio Designer may wonder, "Why can’t I talk to the client directly, why is communication filtered through an Account Executive?" Freelance Designers may ask, "How should I “handle” a difficult client who is responsible for 50% of my income?" And an Agency Designer might want to know "How do I get around the Account Executive, I just know the client will like my idea if they see it?
Our three panelists chosen to answer these questions are:
* Deb Turpin, Owner and President of RIVER CITY STUDIO
* Brad Lang, President & Chief Operating Officer of GEOFF HOWE
* Mike Hauser, Director of Graphic Design at 360 ARCHITECTS
with a combined experience of more than 100 years in the industry.
