AIGA Kansas City A5 Design Competition and Exhibition Presents The Five Senses of Design
AIGA Kansas City A5 Design Competition and Exhibition Presents The Five Senses of Design

The fountains’ effervescence. The fiery sunsets of summer. The whiteout of the year’s first snow. The best of design in Kansas City. The sights of the city surround us and inspire us. They challenge us to reflect back the beauty of the world. To make it manifest in design. That is what we are here to celebrate and honor in A5, the fifth annual design competition and exhibition.

The Five Senses of Design was this year’s awards theme, and our esteemed, nationally and internationally recognized jurors selected the most compelling design in Kansas City for the show. The work will make hair stand on end, eyes gaze in envy, inspirational bells ring, some will smell victory, others will salivate with a hunger for more… next year.

Congratulations and many thanks to all who tested their own design senses by entering the AIGA Kansas City’s fifth annual design competition. To view this year’s award winners click View the Winners at the top of the page.

The Hereford Bull statue, known as "Bob" an acronym for "bull on building", originally stood on top of a 90-foot pylon at the former American Hereford Association headquarters, which was originally dedicated on October 12, 1954. HNTB Architects Engineers Planners took down the Hereford Bull statue when they bought the American Hereford Association building. Calvin Trillin lamented the loss in The New Yorker last year. Now the famous bull will be located in Mulkey Square Park atop a new 65-foot pre-cast concrete pylon that is being donated by HNTB, DST Systems and the J. E. Dunn Construction Company.
