Margo Chase
Since founding Chase Design Group in 1986, Margo has consistently produced and led award-winning work in many areas of design. Recognized worldwide for her skill with custom typograp nd identity development, Margo is dedicated to creating client success through high-quality, intelligent creative. Her vision provides the fuel for Chase Design Group's growth and achievement.
Over the past 15 years, Margo Chase's landmark identity design has gained international recognition. Her studio's dynamic, award winning style can be seen in work for a long roster of prestigious clients such as AIG SunAmerica, Belkin, Capitol Records, Chronicle Books, Columbia Pictures, Discovery Communications, Goodby Silverstein, Leo Burnett USA, Mattel, Nike, Paramount Pictures, Reebok, Sony Music, Target, TBWA Chiat/Day, The WB Television Network, and USA Networks.
Among numerous awards, Chase was selected as one of I.D. Magazine's "I.D. Forty". Her work has been featured in countless design periodicals and books, including Communication Arts, Graphis, I.D., HOW, Radical Graphics/Graphic Radicals, and New Design: Los Angeles. Chase has been honored by many print design awards, as well as several prestigious Broadcast Design Association awards for motion graphics and web design. She was recently featured in the celebrated show "Women Designers in the USA, 1900-2000: Diversity and Difference" on exhibition in New York City.
Hank Richardson
Hank Richardson is President of Portfolio Center, one of the country's premier graduate-level professional programs for the communication arts, located in Atlanta, Georgia. He is an AIGA Fellow and has served on the Boards of AIGA/Atlanta, the Allied Design Council/Atlanta, and the Atlanta Ad Club, He holds memberships in the College Art Association, New York Art Directors Club, One Club of New York, Creativity Atlanta, the American Academy of Advertising, Dallas Society of Visual Communicators and the University College Designers Association.
An avid teacher and inspiring leader in design education, Richardson travels widely, speaking at universities and conducting workshops and seminars at conferences around the country. Most recently, he spoke on Approaches to Teaching Design History at the AIGA Schools of Thoughts conference, held at Art Center College in Pasadena, California. Richardson wrote the commentary for the Graphis New Talent Design Annual, 2001, Education for the Real World, and his articles, speeches, a ns are published frequently in print and online. As a consultant, he has also contributed to books by such industry notables as Steven Heller, Elizabeth Resnick, Luke Sullivan, and Cheryl Heller.
During his tenure, Richardson's students have garnered over 5000 local and national awards. His graduates are employed in the most highly respected design firms and advertising agencies in the world. He believes steadfastly it is most important for designers and design educators to convey the philosophy that being a designer is the opportunity to confirm one's own integrity and to promote design as a personal advocacy and a catalyst for change.
Michael Hodgson
The range of Michael Hodgson's design influence extends from the Westside LA mini-mall to the global thinktank. He has whetted our appetite for meals and media, furniture and fashion. He has helped to shape the public presence of some of the most interesting cultural producers at work today. And he is one of the reasons you really do judge a book by its cover. Since establishing Ph.D with Clive Piercy in 1988, Hodgson has designed visual programs and publications noted for their crisp thinking, clear-expression and meticulous craft.
As a creative advocate for his clients, Michael strives to bring his work and that of his team to the highest standard of intelligence, production and, increasingly, responsibility through a growing interest in sustainable design. Along the way, he has helped to redefine the way companies and industries look at themselves, and to expand their view of whatÕs possible.
In 1979, Michael moved to Santa Monica, California after serving as art director of Harpers & Queen magazine. He has taught at Art Center College of Design and Otis School of Art & Design, and is currently President of the Los Angeles chapter of the AIGA. He studied at St. Martin's School of Art in London and Brighton College of Art. Michael is married, and he and his wife Gill have three beautiful daughters: Lily, Maudie Rae and Lucie.
